Your friend: “What are you doing today?“
You: “Training, why?”
Your friend: “Again??!”
If you’ve had this conversation one too many times, you’ll know that you’re really enjoying your classes at Karate World. You’ve found a fun, new fitness activity, and the best way to spend those evenings after work or school.
1) You become more focused.
The more you train in martial arts, the better you become at focusing on your goals. You know that hard work and discipline will help you achieve your goals faster and that getting lazy could lead to your failing.
Because you’re so used to goal setting and staying focused at training, doing the same at work or school becomes easier. You know what it takes to accomplish a task, and you’ll stop at nothing till you’ve completed it.
2) You become more humble.
When you train in martial arts, you’ll come across training partners of many different levels. Some may be more fit, some may be just as new to this activity as you – there will always be someone to challenge you.
Because you’ve trained so much, you get used to it, you become more accepting of yourself. You’re OK with making mistakes and losing to a partner every once in awhile because that’s just the way it is. What’s important is that you learn from these mistakes and children learn that it’s not about winning, but following the rules and playing fairly.
3) You become more confident.
Many people believe that training in martial arts makes a person more violent. Because they’re exposed to so many techniques, people think that it’s only natural that they would use it on others.
A true fan of martial arts is the complete opposite of violent. In fact, he will probably walk away from getting into fights if he can. He knows that using martial arts against other people is the last choice he or she will make.
4) You become more fit.
Training in martial arts day in and day out will not only benefit you mentally, spiritually and emotionally, but also physically. You become so focused on learning and improving techniques you’ve been taught in class that you don’t notice all the weight you’ve been losing and that muscle you’ve been gaining!
Having a toned, fit body is just one of the many benefits of martial arts. You don’t even have to work for it – it’s something that just happens naturally. Children become healthier as they spend less time on the couch and more time practising their skills.
5) You become friends with amazing people
When you train in martial arts, you’ll meet people on the same journey as you. They put in as much effort as you do, talk about martial arts the same way you do and even look foward to class days as you do!
There’s nothing like sparking a friendship with like-minded people. It makes it that much easier to stay on track with your goals and makes you want to work even harder than before.
